    Integrity Well

The Integrity Well is a double-spring well made in granite stone masonry in 1917. The well platform is four meters long and three meters wide. In 1987 the Integrity Pavilion was added next to the well so that visitors can read and appreciate the merit monument, taste the water from the Integrity Well and take a short rest. "Integrity Spring and " and "Modesty Water" are the names of the two springs. According to "Southern History · Biography of Hu Xie", in the Southern Song Dynasty, Fan Bainian from Liangzhou paid a visit to the emperor. Emperor Mingdi mentioned a Corruption Well in Guangzhou and asked with an implied meaning, "Is there such water in your prefecture, too?" Fan Bainian replied, "I live between the Integrity Spring and the Modesty Water," suggesting his integrity and frugality. Thus later generations use "Integrity Spring and Modesty Water" as a metaphor to indicate honesty and frugality in their native places.
